When I started this blog, about four months back, I had not expected to see people reading and enjoying the content. The experience has truly been humbling. What started at first as a blog about slices of my sex life, quickly turned into a blog about sex and sexuality in Indian context. The Wild Indica posts, which I thought would be duds, turned out to be most popular among my readers — notably the story on u/arora_chef - The Wild Flower is my most read and shared story. One Trip Stand, a three part post about my trip with Arunika is the one which has gotten me the most number of paid subscribers, even though the entire story was free to read.
I had started taking paid subscriptions for my blog about a month ago, and the response has been heart-warming. However, I also received multiple messages about payment gateway issues with Stripe, and people failing subscribe even though they want to. Some also expressed concerns about a hard-to-explain-to-others INR 51 charge recurring in their bank statement from Substack.
I write from India and for Indians, and I understand these problems go beyond money. It’s hard to create a recurring mandate for an erotica website. There are certainly privacy concerns when you give out your card details for payment to an erotica blog (although, the payment is handled by Stripe, which in my limited understanding is like RazorPay, and I don’t get to see any payment details, other than the amount that I’ve received).
Which brings me to the second point, that I am not a full time writer. In fact, I haven’t made a post in almost three weeks now. I’ve readers emailing me and DM-ing on Reddit about when my next post would be published. Although the paid subscribers have been kindest, but I feel guilty of making readers commit to a monthly recurring payment, and not delivering in a scheduled manner.
Starting today, I am freezing the paid subscription model. The billing cycle for the paid subscribers will be frozen and they won’t be charged again. All my content will be free to read. I am, instead, switching to a reader-supported donation model.
If you like my work, and want to show your appreciation, feel free to check my Buy Me a Coffee page and buy me a cup of coffee? The donations to this page are anonymous, and they are not recurring. I have set the donation to as low as $1.
I don’t have to vouch for the security of payment gateway for Buy Me a Coffee. For the payment you will be asked for your email, you can give the same email as the one you use for subscribing to this newsletter. I believe it’s for sending you the receipt of the purchase. It will be treated as a one time online purchase, and will show up as Buy Me a Coffee on your bank statement, and with no mention of Indian Kink or iskiny92 or After a Good Date.
